Constructed over a century, the Batalha Monastrey stands as one of the best examples of Late Flamboyant Gothic Architecture in Portugal.

The unfinished Chapels in particular, originally designed as a Gothic octagonal rotunda, was later transcended into a masterpiece of Manueline style, with symbolic laceworks of armillary spheres, winged angels and clover-shaped arches and florid projections.
